Pest Control

Pest control is minimizing, regulating and management of group of organisms which can interbreed and produce fertile offspring. Pests compete with humans for natural resources and transmit diseases to humans, crops and livestock. Pests include mollusks, protozoans, nematodes, flatworms, arachnids, and especially insects. Certain Fungi, Bacteria and viruses are also pests. Bed bug is also a pest which belong top family of cimicidae and it feeds on the blood of warm blooded hosts. Neem Oil is used to control bed bug as it is insect repellent and now the US FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION has approved its external use.

Pest Control is very necessary for human to survive on the earth to protect itself, its crops livestock, homes, furniture and much more.

Pest control can be done in various ways. Some of the methods are :

Poisoned Bait :- It has been a common method for centuries to kill pests ,wolves and birds that seem to threaten crops.

Elimination of breeding grounds :- Garbage is the home of pests as it provides them food and shelter so proper waste management & drainage services can eliminate the problem.

Field Burning :- It is practice in which fields are burned to kill any insects or their eggs before sowing seeds of a new crop.

Hunting ,Traps , Elimination of damaged plants and Poison Spray are also methods of pest control.

Sterilization :- It is modern effective method to sterilize soil and is called Soil steaming. We also do a similar practice in our homes for preservation of milk for a longer time .this is called partial sterilization.

Use of repellents :- It is also a modern method to fight with the pest.

Use of insecticides :- Chemical Pest control is also done to kill insects and pest. The known insecticides are DDT, Chlorinated hydrocarbons, herbicides and etc..

With the growing Technology there are different means of pest control but we should move with the means which are eco-friendly.
